László Nyitray, research fellow at the ELTE Department of Biochemistry, and his colleagues have spent years studying the behaviour of special proteins called S100. In their recent research conducted together with scientists from the University of Szeged, they mapped the interactions within the protein family. Their findings contribute to the production of drugs that can be used effectively in the treatment of tumours, as well as neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases and have fewer side effects than other medicines.
