The Immunisation Coalition, an Australian organization, who are the leading voice in whole-of-life immunisation in Australia, recently announced a competition to raise awareness of the importance of influenza vaccination. The Selection Panel was chaired by the Nobel Prize-winning, Professor Peter Doherty, and one of the winners was our alumni, Erzsébet Kis-Nagy (Faculty of Humanities ’12).

Influenza, as an art subject, is not a new idea. Artists tried to make sense of the world in the wake of the 1918 influenza pandemic.

"Science and art are human attempts to understand and describe the world we live in. [...] And in times of anti-science movements, it is more important than ever to reach people in different ways with messages based on science." / Peter Doherty /

Of the nearly 100 applicants, the best have been selected to take part in the 2021 influenza vaccination campaign. Erzsébet Kis-Nagy (maiden name Erzsébet Kiss), an alumnus of our University, got first place as the only Hungarian and the only European who received a prize.

"I am confident that I can help spread the message of the initiative to as many people as possible." / Erzsébet Kis-Nagy, Faculty of Humanities '12 /

We congratulate her on her work and result!
