ELTE Art Ensemble's season-ending concert / Brahms: German requiem
The ELTE „Eötvös” Art Ensemble will hold a season-ending concerto n June 20, 2024 in the Great Hall of the Academy of Arts of Music. During the evening, Johannes Brahms’s German Requiem will be played, interpreted by our university’s musically talented past and present students and instructors.
„It is disputed among musicologists what inspired Brahms to write the German Requiem. The death of his mentor Robert Schumann in 1856 or the loss of his mother in 1865? Perhaps both assumptions are true, since he worked on his work for 12 years between 1856 and 1868. In any case, music literature created one of his most beautiful funeral masses.”
The ELTE Bartók Béla Choir and University Concert Orchestra welcomes all music lovers to the occasion!
