At the 6th of August, the ELTE BTK campus welcomed a group of former students who had come together for a nostalgic reunion. They left their Alma Mater in 1977, and for some of them, this was their first return since they received their Diploma. During that time, this wasn't the campus of the Faculty of Humanities, since it only relocated here during 2001, but it was the space for the Faculty of Science. The former students were all part of the Department of Mathematics.
The group strolled through the campus, marveling at how much had changed and yet how much had remained the same. The familiar sights brought back vivid memories and some good laughs. The highlight of the visit was a trip to their old Department of Mathematics. Here they all talking about their everyday life, and how they felt during the sometimes rigorous exam periods. They even showed us where was one of the supercomputers of the past, whichoccupied nearly half of the floor.
Among the group was a particularly special guest—Leonardo, who had traveled all the way from Cuba just for this occasion. His presence underscored the significance of the reunion, as he had crossed continents to reconnect with his old friends and revisit the place that had played a pivotal role in his life. Leonardo’s journey was a testament to the lasting impact that ELTE had on its students, transcending borders and time.
