From Win-Lose Negotiations to Win-Win Negotiations

On 30 June (Thursday), at 6:00 PM CET, János Tanács holds the next training session in ELTE’s series called “Life Long Learning”. The training will be held in English.

The series is organized by the International Alumni Chapter as part of the ELTE Alumni Academy. These career trainings are meant for the broader public and international alumni of ELTE.

The title of the upcoming training is “From Win-Lose Negotiations to Win-Win Negotiations”. The session is going to be held by János Tanács, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics.

In the presentation, Dr. János Tanács will provide clues on how we can achieve mutually beneficial results in our negotiations. The Associate Professor will briefly review the problems of win-lose negotiations and see when we are forced to enter such type of conflict resolution. He will show participants when and how to turn a win-lose type of bargaining into a win-win kind of attitude. In addition, János Tanács will discuss how we can improve our negotiation power, he will recommend literature that helps improve our win-lose or win-win negotiation skills and knowledge.

As a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of Eötvös Loránd University, János Tanács’s primary field of study is negotiation techniques. The Associate Professor’s research areas are related to techniques of argumentation and negotiation as well as crisis communication issues. He has recently paid scientific attention to the communication phenomena involved in technological disasters (Challenger and Columbia space shuttle accident, Chernobyl nuclear accident).
