ELTE Alumni Academy: Perspectives in social media

On 25 April (Monday), at 5:00 PM CET, László Katona holds the third training session in ELTE’s series called “Life Long Learning”. The training will be held in English.

The series is organized by the International Alumni Chapter as part of the ELTE Alumni Academy. These career trainings are meant for the broader public and international alumni of ELTE.

The title of the upcoming training is “Perspectives in social media”. The session is going to be held by László Katona, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Humanities.

László Katona’s presentation highlights that textual as well as visual and audiovisual communication may have several connotations based on various perspectives. The key notions during the presentation are fighting disinformation, fake news, and understanding various perspectives and connotations of the same message.

László Katona is a teacher in English Language and Literature as well as Chemistry. He is a Senior Lecturer at the School of English and American Studies, Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. His major scope of research is applied linguistics (language in the media and foreign language applied theatre) and audiovisual translation.
